Centerville students, city officials plant trees ahead of Arbor Day

Local News

CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – The Centerville City Beautiful Commission held a ceremonial tree planting Wednesday at Benham’s Grove.

Several students from third-grade classes joined the mayor to plant eight trees, representing the eight elementary schools in Centerville.

“It helps the pollution problem; it helps our environment immensely. It’s very good for shading purposes, it helps to cool things down and it’s great for having an opportunity to know that you’re helping the environment, your city with having lots of trees,” says Brooks Compton, Centerville Mayor.

Centerville is also designated as a Tree City USA. This marks the 33rd consecutive year it’s received that national distinction.

Arbor Day is Friday, April 26.
