We now officially have a Sheetz after its grand opening in Huber Heights Tuesday, Aug. 29, but it’s not the only gas/convenience store giant making moves into the Miami Valley. It will be joined by Wawa and Buc-ee’s, both of which are at various points on the development timeline. Here’s a quick look where they stand.

While it may not be the largest chain of these three — both Wawa (1,000+) and Sheetz (nearly 700) dwarf Buc-ee’s 46 current locations — the announcement that it would be coming to Huber Heights is still reverberating. After an informal presentation at a Huber Heights planning commission Tuesday, Aug. 15, Buc-ee’s is expected to formally submit its plans soon, possibly early enough to be voted on at the commission’s next regularly scheduled meeting on Sept. 12.

  • Opening: 2024?

On Tuesday, Aug. 29, Sheetz opened its doors in Huber Heights, becoming the first of these “big 3” to open a Miami Valley location. A second location opend in Springfield on Sept. 30.

Future locationas for the gas station chain are currently murky.

A Huber Heights location at the intersection of Old Troy Pike and Chambersburg Road was approved by the city’s planning commission in July. Meanwhile, the future of a proposed Fairborn location across the street from the high school is much murkier. The Fairborn planning commission recommended against it in July, and further city discussion is set for later this month.
