CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – Bill’s Donuts is back in business Monday after a driver crashed into the back of their building Sunday.
The damage was enough to limit their baking capabilities overnight and Monday morning. For now, the boards and caution tape are still up behind the building where the main parking lot is.
The accident itself drawing just about the same reaction from every customer.
“I was a little surprised,” laughed Maria Green of Miami Twp.
“I was kind of shocked. I don’t really understand how you can possibly run into the building,” said Anonya Setty, a Xenia resident.
The early morning donut rush may have been disappointed because donut production resumed around 11:00 am with the cherished product hitting the shelves around noon.
“Everything is hot, fresh and great tasting,” said Green.
2 NEWS reporter Ethan Fitzgerald caught up with 87-year old Bill’s regular Jane Leigh. She said shortly after the news surfaced, her phone went off the hook.
“They had said it was an elderly lady. Even my kids in Columbus called me saying, ‘Was it you?’ I told them ‘No, I didn’t run into the donut shop doors’,” said Leigh.
Bill’s is a staple in the community and Leigh isn’t surprised by all the post-accident interest on social media.
“If they can’t stop here, Esther Price and Marion’s Piazza, life just isn’t worth living,” Leigh said with a laugh.
No charges were filed after the accident. It was simply an accident with no injuries reported.
