At least three people were taken into custody after shots were fired at an undercover officer Monday morning.

It happened near the intersection of Bungalow Road and W. 2nd St. just after 10:30 a.m.

Police say two Dayton detectives were fired upon. The detectives were in an unmarked vehicle.

Nickole Lee was in her house when shots rang out..

“I heard about four, five gunshots,” Lee said. “I had my grandbaby in there. And me and her just got down on the floor because yeah, it was kind of scary. Because we didn’t know where the shots was coming from, really. It was that close.”

Moments after the shots were fired, several police units converged on the area.

Another neighbor Ethel McWhorter said: “It was shocking to see that many police cars. I thought somebody had been killed.”

Dispatch says the suspect fled in a silver SUV. Police spent hours trying to find the suspected car, finding it around 2:00 p.m and gave chase.

They stopped the car along east Westbrook Road in Brookville and took three people into custody.

Authorities say there are no reports of injuries.
