Annual ceremony honors fallen first responders

Local News

CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – The Miami Valley Firefighters and EMS Memorial Association honored fallen firefighters and first responders during its annual memorial program Sunday at Stubbs Park in Centerville.

71 firefighters and emergency personnel from the Miami valley were recognized with the reading of their names. All of the firefighters and first responders who were honored had lost their lives in the line of duty.

Retired Dayton firefighter Roderick Longpre says, “We have friends who are represented on this memorial in stainless steel and we never want to forget the sacrifices that their families were forced to endure because of whatever the circumstances were that took them from us.”

This was the 28th year for the memorial program.
