All lanes reopen after semi fire on I-75 in Piqua

Local News

PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) — All lanes of I-75 southbound in Piqua have reopened after a semi hauling cooking oil caught on fire early Friday morning.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the semi was in the southbound lanes of I-75 when the fire started.

Troopers say the truck was hauling vegetable and canola oil.

Three fire departments responded to battle the fire.

Medics took the driver to Upper Valley Medical Center with reported non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities shut down the right lane of I-75 SB due to the fire. All lanes reopened just before 4:30 a.m. Friday.

ODOT was called to the scene to clear foam used by the fire departments to contain the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
