WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (WDTN) – Air Force Marathon organizers are looking for 2,600 volunteers to help make this year’s event a success.
Volunteer registration will begin May 1 and run through August 31, 2019, but officials say that it is better to sign up as early as possible to reserve your preferred job.
“Our volunteers have been the backbone of this event since the beginning and are key to its success,” said Air Force race director, Brandon Hough. “Every year we hear the same feedback from our participants that we have the best volunteers of any race and we take a lot of pride in that.”
“We have so many opportunities for people to volunteer their time.” said volunteer coordinator, Jeanette Monaghan. “From the pre-race preparations, the Sports and Fitness Expo on Sept.19th and 20th, to jobs on the finish line on race day, anyone can find a way to contribute.”
Musicians and performers are also wanted to provide course entertainment for the runners.
“Every year we feature bands, DJs and acts of all kinds along the race course.” Monaghan said. “We always present an award for best course entertainment as voted on by the runners.”
All open positions are listed on the marathon’s website and volunteers can register online.
