WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio (WDTN) – The U.S. Air Force Marathon will begin implementing programs to minimize waste at this year’s race.

Plans include using reyclable heat sheets to keep runners warm and limit the amount of clothing runners shed during the beginning of the race; trash stations manned by volunteers; donating left over food, and turning over compostable waste.

The marathon’s plan will be implemented over three years, with conservation efforts being the focus in following years.
