DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton organization held a rally Friday promoting voter engagement and education.
The After School Rally offered a chance for community members to learn more about voter engagement, how to register to vote, and the issue of food deserts.
They also offered free haircuts and gave away shoes to students.
Organizers say it’s all about bringing the community together.
“One of the big things that we’ve gotten is just a sense of love that comes from being out with people,” said Event Organizer Will Smith. “If we’re going to come together as a community, we have to really be a community that is loving on each other.”
Organizers hope to hold more rallies for community members in the future.
