A garage fire forces a family out of their Clayton home.

Firefighters were called to the house on Union Road near Scothills Drive around 1 p.m. Sunday.

They arrived to find flames inside the garage.  Crews were able to knock the fire out quickly to keep it from spreading.

Two people and several pets were inside at the time.

“The female homeowner called 911. She heard something fall out in the garage..opened the door and saw the smoke,” says Clayton Fire Chief Brian Garver.

Everyone was able to get out safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
