DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A police chase ended in a fiery crash that injured several people on Tuesday, Jan. 24.

According to the Huber Heights Police Division, Huber Heights officers were notified of a stolen white BMW sedan that had fled the scene after ramming another vehicle in Harrison Township.

The suspect vehicle fled northbound on I-75 and was later seen going eastbound on I-70 at a high rate of speed.

Police said officers attempted to catch up to the suspect vehicle, but it merged onto the offramp at SR-201. One officer was not able to merge in time, however, one was able to follow the vehicle onto the offramp. That officer was then involved in a crash with an unrelated vehicle. The officer radioed for medics, and her injuries have since been reported to be minor.

The suspect vehicle was later seen on Brandt Pike, said police. It had reportedly crashed into three vehicles at the intersection of Chambersburg Road, bursting into flames.

The suspect exited the stolen vehicle and fled on foot. Officers were able to apprehend him in the parking lot of a neighboring business.

Three drivers and a child were hurt in the crash, and one of those drivers is in critical condition after suffering third-degree burns.

The suspect reportedly sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. A passenger was also sent to the hospital with minor injuries and second-degree burns.

This incident remains under investigation.
