DARKE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — Fire crews were on the scene of a three-alarm fire in Darke County on Wednesday.

According to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, crews were sent to the 9000 block of Kelch Road in Versailles Wednesday evening on report of a barn fire.

Chief Brian Pearson of the Versailles Fire Department said the fire broke out in a machine shed shortly after 7 p.m.

“It was a fairly successful night,” said Pearson. “I know the building behind us doesn’t show but with the multiple exposures out here and the proximity of the homeowner’s house and the barn back behind me which was full of cattle, all the cattle was able to be out of the barn and we focused our initial efforts on protecting the structures that weren’t involved.”

Pearson reported that the roof of the shed collapsed, however, no one was injured.

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office provided an update overnight and said the fire rekindled around 1:40 a.m. on Thursday, but the extent of the rekindling is unknown at this time.
