2 people taken to hospital after car crashes into Springfield home

Local News

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A homeowner will be staying elsewhere after a car crashed into his garage Friday afternoon.

It happened at 2353 Balsam Drive, where a car blew through a stop sign before smashing into the house.

Dispatch tells 2 NEWS that two people inside the car were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No one was inside the home at the time of the crash. A neighbor was able to contact the homeowner to notify him of the situation.

Jerry Salyer says he was about to go camping and still has plans to leave despite the damage.

“I don’t let this detour me. There’s not much I can do once the insurance people come they’ll get it secured. I should be taking off. I won’t be staying here tonight,” said Salyer.

Firefighters say the driver had suffered a medical emergency, causing the accident. She was transported to the hospital.
