18-year-old sentenced in connection to fatal Summit Square Apartment shooting

The Montgomery County Prosector said 18-year-old Keith Reid Jr. was sentenced in connection to the shooting death of Davion Griffin McGhee.

Reid Jr. was sentenced to 18 years in prison Tuesday in connection to the shooting at the Summit Square Apartments September 30, 2017.

Reid Jr. was 17 years old at the time of the shooting and the Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed a motion to transfer him from juvenile court to adult court. 

According to a press release, the transfer was mandatory because of his age and the seriousness of the charges.

On April 6, Reid Jr. was found guilty on counts of attempted murder, involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and carrying concealed weapons.

According to a press release from the Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, after Reid Jr. is released from prison he will be placed on post-release control for five more years.
