DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — One person was taken to the hospital after a fire in Dayton on Tuesday morning.

According to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch, a single-story home caught fire near Ethel Avenue and Jerome Avenue sometime Tuesday morning. When crews arrived on the scene, they found a split-level structure with heavy fire showing from the first floor. A release by the Dayton Fire Department says crews were told someone may still be inside the building.

Fire crews searched the home and found one person on the second floor, and quickly brought them to the medics waiting outside.

The Dayton Fire Department reported that the victim was brought to a local hospital in critical condition.

At this time, no cause for the fire has been released.
