DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Four families are getting help from the Red Cross after an apartment fire.
Crews were called to the 300 block of Fillmore Street in Dayton around 11:00 Tuesday night.
When they got there firefighters found flames coming out of one of the back doors.
Once inside, crews say they discovered the kitchen was in flames. They worked to keep the fire from spreading.
District Fire Chief Rennes Bowers of the Dayton Fire Department said, “Got here fast and got it knocked down quickly. Saved the building. It could have knocked the whole thing down.”
Fire investigators are still looking into the cause. Authorities say families should be able to move back home in a few weeks.
