KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – Kettering Medical Center is getting ready to expand.

Officials plan to add a 120,000 square foot, five story cancer center on Southern Boulevard.

The center will be focused on comprehensive care including specialized treatment. A cafe will focus on specific nutrition for cancer patients.

“Our patients’ voices have been our guide throughout the planning of this cancer center,” notes Fred Manchur, chief executive officer of Kettering Health Network. “We formed a patient advisory council to provide direction for our decisions on everything from the building and interior design to the kind of food and furniture. The cancer center is designed for patients by our patients.”

There will also be a spa and boutique.

Crews will break ground on the $49-million facility next month.

Construction is expected to finish in late fall of 2016.
