DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Sunday marks the end of an era for the only Dayton-area location Krispy Kreme.

Cars lined up all day to get their doughnut-fix before the Kettering location at 2001 East Dorothy Lane closes for good.

The store opened in 1999, but the doughnut-chain announced this month it would shut down the store. The location employed 20 people who will receive additional pay and may be transferred to other Krispy Kreme locations.

There are no other Krispy Kreme locations in the Dayton area. The company operates a retail doughnut shop in Anderson Township in the Cincinnati area and three locations in the Columbus area.

The Kettering location closes permanently at 10 p.m. Sunday.
