Mom uses shakes to combat stress

Health News

(NBC) – A recent study found 90 percent of moms say they are “stressed out” about their health and wellness.

One mom says she has found an answer that doesn’t come from a prescription or a doctor.

Keeping stress in check is not just a casual concern for Ivy Larson.

“I was 22 when I was diagnosed with M.S.,” said Larson.

For 20 years, instead of taking drugs Ivy has used food to keep her multiple sclerosis in remission. She’s the founder of Clean Cuisine – an anti-inflammatory diet, rich in plants and unrefined food.

She’s written five books and has helped tens of thousands get healthy.

Turning 40 posed some new challenges for Ivy. Ones that many women can relate to.

Larson said, “Issues with fatigue, brain fog, migraines. All new symptoms. I was mystified as to what was causing them because I thought I was doing everything right and it turns out it was my hormones.”

As she has done before, Ivy turned to food for a solution.

It’s called the brain fog busting hormone balancing smoothie recipe.

Here’s what’s in it.

“Ashwaghanda lowers cortisol which is your stress hormone and mimics the effects of Gabba which is a calming neurotransmitter,” says Larson.

Maca is a superfood that improves your mood and, “The libido is amazing, and for fertility that’s huge for men and women,” says Larson.

Next up, Camu, Larson says, “Has 40 times the vitamin C of an orange.” she says Camu also naturally increases progesterone levels.

FLAXSEEDS. “2 tablespoons a day, two times a day reduces hot flashes by 57%!”

Larson also says, “Hemp Seeds these are great for the GLA the ingredient that inhibits hormonal hair loss as you get older for men and women. Cacao powder is the active ingredient in chocolate. It increases the feel-good neurotransmitters and alleviates stress. And then collagen which is loaded in amino acids and helps support hormonal health in general.”

Unsweetened Acai, a frozen banana, frozen cauliflower and water go into the blender.

Loaded with nutrients, it’s for women and men at all stages of life.

“It’s not like you’re taking a supplement there’s no risk. These are whole foods, unrefined whole food ingredients that actually have very powerful effects,” says Larson.

The ingredients in the shake can be found in stores and online.
