(CNN) – Cancer, seizures and now sexual performance anxiety? A new study shows marijuana might help your libido.

Marijuana’s been used to treat a variety of health issues but can it also help out in the bedroom?

Researchers are starting to think it might.

A recent study by Stanford University researchers found men and women who used marijuana daily had about 20 percent more sex than their non-smoking peers.

The drug is said to leave some users feeling relaxed with increased pleasure and decreased pain which not only can lead to increased arousal but also make sex more enjoyable.

One sex therapist guesses that weed’s relaxing component can help relieve performance anxiety while another noted that in women, THC, the component responsible for marijuana’s high targets a part of the brain associated with sexual arousal.

The drug has been used as an aphrodisiac in many cultures for centuries.

Researchers make it clear that weed is not a fix for sexual dysfunction and the study says that some of pot’s side effects, like paranoia, might even take away from the sexual experience.

For those still interested in experimenting, they recommend starting off with a small amount
And more importantly, only indulge while in one of the nine states where pot is legal for recreational use.
