Hazmat called to trailer fire at Huber Heights business


HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – A late-night trailer fire led to a Hazmat call in Huber Heights on Thursday.

ABF Trucking called Huber Heights Police around 11:20 p.m. on Thursday, saying a trailer containing hazardous materials was on fire.

Once Huber Heights Fire arrived on the scene, they called regional hazmat to assist.

The trailer contained lead-acid batteries and was sitting near canisters containing chlorine gas.

Huber Heights Fire says the fire had gone out by the time crews arrived on the scene.

Fire officials say their presence ended up being precautionary. There was no gas leak and largely precautionary measures were taken to secure the scene

No one was injured in the fire. The cause is under investigation.
