PIQUA, Ohio (WDTN) – The American Heart Association’s “Go Red Goes North” event is coming to the Miami Valley.

Beth Langefels, Senior Director of Communications and Marketing with the American Heart Association, as well as Ashlee Gulker from Premier Health, talked with 2 NEWS Thursday to discuss the event.

“Our mission is to build healthier communities and to be able to sponsor an event like this that actually promotes women’s health, and heart health in particular, and to be able to join with the AHA, that allows us to promote that and help them, and it really aligns with our mission,” Gulker said of Premier’s involvement.

Langefels says the Go Red movement is a great campaign for women to be a part of.

“We’ve done some studies in women that actually sign up for the Go Red movement. They lose weight, they eat healthier, and they’re more likely to recognize those signs and symptoms of a heart attack,” she said.

This exciting event will feature not only a heart healthy luncheon, but also a health and wellness expo and keynote speaker, “America’s Funniest Stressbuster,” Kay Frances.

Go Red Goes North will be held on September 6, 2018 between 10 am and 1 pm at the Fort Piqua Banquet Center, located at 308 North Main Street.
