Gas leak in West Dayton closes roads, evacuates neighbors

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) –  An accident in west Dayton has caused a gas leak and an evacuation Friday.

Dayton Police tell 2 NEWS a car hit a gas line in the 9000 block of West Third Street around noon. They say the car had swerved to avoid hitting another car, thus hitting the line.

The gas evacuated 20 to 30 residents in the area, police say. Vectren has since shut off the gas supply.

The eastbound lane of West Third Street is open to traffic while the westbound lane remains closed.

People in the area are being evacuated at this time. There are no injuries.
