CINCINNATI (AP) – The manager of the Cincinnati Reds’ last World Series winner will serve as grand marshal of the Ohio city’s big parade on their opening day.

Lou Piniella will help highlight the 97th Findlay Market Opening Day Parade that winds through the city ahead of the Reds’ first game April 4.

Piniella played for and managed the New York Yankees, among other major league roles that included managing the Chicago Cubs. The Reds recently hired Piniella as a team consultant.

He led the Reds to the 1990 championship in what’s called the “wire-to-wire” season since the Reds never fell out of first place and went on to sweep the Oakland A’s. The 1990 team’s three “Nasty Boys” relief pitchers Norm Charlton, Rob Dibble and Randy Myers led last year’s parade.
