Former Buckeye Maurice Clarett pleads guilty to DUI

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown native and former Ohio State University running back Maurice Clarett pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.

Clarett was pulled over on January 4 in Mount Gillead – a small town about 45 miles north of Columbus – by troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He refused a breathalyzer or chemical testing and was cited for OVI and a turn signal violation.

By pleading guilty, Clarett will serve no jail time. He will be on probation for two years and must enroll in a driver intervention program.

Clarett was released from probation in February of 2015 after serving three and a half years in prison for robbery.

In the years since his prison release, Clarett has become a motivational speaker,making several appearances in Youngstown.
