Fight between brothers leads to stabbing

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A fight between brothers led to a stabbing and one man arrested.

Steven Hazlett, 59, was arrested on charges of felonious assault and domestic violence.

Crews were called to the 600 block of Redwood Avenue around 4 p.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, they found a man in the front yard with a large amount of blood running down his face. He said his brother Steven stabbed him in the head inside the apartment. Police said he appeared to be intoxicated. Officials found Steven Hazlett inside the apartment with blood on him also. They said he also appeared intoxicated.

Steven was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for further evaluation. His brother refused to be taken to the hospital and was treated on scene by medics.

His brother said Steven came back from the Marathon gas station and began to argue with him. He said Steven then hit him in the face before stabbing him with a knife. He said he hit Steven multiple times to defend himself. The brother said he then went to a neighbor’s house to call police.

Officials collected evidence inside the apartment and found the weapon.

Steven was released from the hospital and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. He is expected in court Monday.
