DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The former City of Dayton employee who stole thousands of dollars from the city will serve five years in prison.

Christen Turner, 39, of Dayton, was sentenced in Montgomery County court Tuesday.

She was convicted on 145 counts relating to a theft scheme.

Turner headed up a scheme to steal funds from the city’s Morals Fund. She issued 146 false claim checks to her friends.

The checks were written between 2009 and 2013 and added up to a $384,937.93.

She must pay full restitution and serve five years in prison. Her pension through the city was also forfeited as partial payment of the restitution.

Eight co-conspirators were also convicted. Two were put on probation, three are serving prison time and three other are awaiting sentencing.
