Dayton Police investigate 2 shootings minutes apart

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police are investigating two shootings that happened minutes apart and less than two-tenths of a mile from each other.

Police were called to a home on South Philadelphia Street after 12:30 a.m. when family members reported a man came home with a gunshot wound. They said a bullet was lodged in his cheek. According to a police report, the victim told officials he was walking home when two people came up and shot him in the face. The victim was taken by medics to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.

While officers were investigating, they were called to another reported shooting outside Chris’s Bandbox located at 3001 East Third Street. Dispatchers reported the person who called 911 was not very forthcoming with information. When police arrived, the said they did not find a victim, but they did locate a small pool of blood in the parking lot.  A witness said she observed people fighting. She told police no one had been shot, but one man was pistol-whipped.
