DAYTON (WDTN) – Dayton Firefighters were back on the scene of a vacant house fire late on Wednesday night.

Crews were called to the 600 block of West Grand Avenue just after 11:30 p.m.

Investigators say they found fire on the back porch of a vacant home.

This is a location with which firefighters are very familiar.

“This is at least the second time this house has burned in the last few weeks, possibly the third time,” said. Captain Barry Cron from the Dayton Fire Department.

Crews were able to knock down the blaze quickly.

Cron said the scene may have been familiar, but that also presented some extra risk for firefighters.

“The previous fires left a lot of holes in the floors and stuff here, which made it really dangerous,” Cron said. “Luckily, we had crews who had been here before and knew that those hazards were present, so they were able to warn everybody else to use extra caution when they were entering.”

No firefighters were injured putting out the flames.

Cron said investigators will go through the scene, which looks to be suspicious.
