GREENVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – K9 officer Britta with the Darke County Sheriff’s Office will receive a bullet and stab protective vest — all thanks to an Ohio-sponsored non-profit organization.
The organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., is based out of Massachusets and provides bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.
Britta’s vest is sponsored by a memorial donation to honor Donnie Buff of Powhatan Point, OH and will be embroidered with “In memory of S.W.A.T. Officer Don Buff,” according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

The K9 officer has been working as a State Certified Dual Purpose Police K9 with the sheriff’s office since November 2015. In April 2016 Britta also earned her National Certification as a Dual Purpose Police K9 through the North American Police Work Dog Association, according to the release.
Britta has responded multiple times in high-risk situations and for tracking suspects.
