RIVERSIDE, Ohio (WDTN) – Inspectors said Tuesday a Bluetooth enabled credit card skimmer was found at a Riverside gas station.

A chief inspector with the Montgomery County Auditor’s Office said a routine check turned up the skimmer Tuesday morning.

The inspector said two seals were broken on gas pumps at the Marathon gas station in the 2100 block of Brandt Pike in Riverside.

This is the sixth skimmer found in a Montgomery County gas pump since 2015, and the 49th in Ohio. More than half of those were found in southwest Ohio.

“I’ve instructed my inspectors to check at-risk pumps for skimmers to ensure other stations have not been impacted,” said County Auditor Karl Keith. “However, once my inspectors leave, the pumps become vulnerable again. Consumers should always take the proper measures to protect themselves.”

It is not known how long the skimmer had been in place. Authorities urge anyone who used this has station to check your account records.

Inspectors ask everyone to look at gas pumps and if you see anything suspicious do not use the reader.

The Riverside Police Department is investigaitng.
