ATHENS, OH (WCMH) – A couple in Athens County face child endangerment charges after prosecutors say they made children carry heavy objects with metal horseshoes around their necks.

According to Athens County Prosecutors, David A. Wright, 36, of Pleasant Hill Road, Athens, and Amy L. Pond, 37, of Indiana, were indicted Monday, on child endangering charges.

Prosecutors say that between June 18 and June 25, Wright and Pond used excessive discipline against Pond’s children, after they placed metal horseshoes around the necks of the children.

The children were also made to hold and carry heavy objects, if they weren’t able to carry out chores, according to prosecutors.

Wright and Pond are scheduled to be arraigned July 20 in Athens County.
