DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A local business is gaining big money from the city of Dayton and CityWide Development Corporation.

It’s part of the city’s economic development plans that assists businesses.

Wednesday, city commissioners approved $110,000 to Miami Valley Packaging Systems (MVPS).

It’s part of a $2.1 million investment in the company and its efforts to relocate and renovate.

Nearly 6 weeks ago, MVPS moved into its new building on the 100 block of Janney Road, just minutes away from its former Stanley Avenue building.

Their new headquarters brings nearly twice as much square footage and allows the company to expand its services through the region.

“We really wanted go make the transition and stay in the region so we’re again really enthused and happy and looking forward to growing with our customers and we’re fortunate that the customers in the Dayton region seems to be growing business-wise,” MVPS President Jamie Williams.

The packaging business plans to hire 9 employees over the next 5 years, and because the company will remain local, it will keep its 21 positions from the former Stanley Avenue plant.
