Chipotle reaches settlement with sickened customers

(NBC NEWS) – Chipotle has settled with more than 100 customers that became sick after eating their food.

The Mexican food chain said through a spokesperson that they wanted to do right by their customers that were affected.

Chipotle has faced a number of food safety issues over the last year. It shut down some stores after 50 people contracted E.coli in 11 states.

Then a second, different E.coli strain affected five people in three states… And a norovirus outbreak from a Boston Chipotle.

This comes as a company run by activist investor William Ackman bought almost ten percent of Chipotle stock.

Ackman says chipotle is a “strong brand,” but he claims its stock is undervalued.

The amount of the settlement is undisclosed.
