DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – One of the children injured in Monday’s house fire in Huber Heights has improved.
Dayton Children’s Hospital told 2 NEWS Wednesday morning that 4-year-old Daniel Whetstone has been upgraded to serious condition.
10-year-old Tabitha Whetstone and Daniel were taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital Monday, both in critical condition, after a fire broke out on the second story of their Hemingway Road home.READ MORE: Victims rescued in Huber Heights house fire identified
39-year-old Brandy Tripodi was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, also in critical condition.
A fire started on the second floor in the back of their home and forced the three to a front bedroom, also on the second floor.
Neighbors who saw the smoke tried to rescue the woman and two children from the home, and placed a ladder against the window. Fire crews arrived and took over the rescue, pulling the three from the house.
The fire is still under investigation and the State Fire Marshal’s Office is helping with that effort.
