Chief Biehl speaks on keeping public safe during hate rally

News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl joined 2 NEWS Friday with a message for the community ahead of Saturday’s planned hate rally.

First and foremost, Chief Biehl is encouraging residents to stay away from the downtown area where the rally is taking place. Instead, he says, consider attending one of the many other community events taking place Saturday that are meant to highlight Dayton’s true sense of identity.

However, if you do choose to voice your opinion down at Courthouse Square, Chief Biehl wants to assure you that you will find a “very visible and significant” police presence.

“We’re going to have a lot of eyes on what’s going on, so I just want to let people know that we’re going to be paying attention to what’s happening, and we expect people to act lawfully,” he says.
