UPDATED: 2 vehicle crash, one person seriously injured

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A 2 vehicle crash occurred early this evening just outside Arlington Heights.

Dayton Police Department leaders told 2 News the accident happened just after 4pm at West Third St. and Abbey Ave. One of the cars split in two and was wrapped around a telephone poll.

The driver of the separated car is said to be suffering serious injuries. However, the driver of the other car is said to not have been hurt. DPD says speed appears to have been a factor in the crash.

“This is a 35 mile hour zone, and 25 mile hour cross street. We are constantly talking about the speeds of vehicles out here are just extreme. We ask people all the time to just obey the speed limit, pay attention to what you’re doing, wear your safety belt, and be cognizant of other vehicles around you,” said DPD Sgt. Gorgon Cairnes.

The crash is still under DPD investigation.
