BRADFORD, Ohio (WDTN) – A 12-year-old Miami County boy is dead after being struck and killed while riding his bike Monday night.
According to our news partner, Mike Ullery and the Piqua Daily Call, the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. in downtown Bradford.
Deputies say DJ Hawes riding a bike in the alley with his brother when he rode into the path of an oncoming truck.
Hawes was taken by CareFlight to Dayton Children’s Hospital where he later died.
The brother was not hurt.
Deputies say Hawes was not wearing a helmet.
There are no plans to cite the driver of the truck.
