VERONA, Ohio (WDTN) – The Preble County Sheriff’s office take two people into custody following a meth lab bust.
Now six children are out of a toxic home environment.
Deputies went to a home in the 100 block of Commerce Street in Verona Wednesday night after numerous complaints from neighbors.
After getting permission to search the home, they found chemicals to make meth as well as drug paraphernalia.
Deputies arrested 39-year-old David Haney who is facing drug-related and child endangerment charges.
The children’s mother, Tamara Smith, 34 was also arrested an is being held in the Preble County jail on child endangerment charges.
The children, ranging in age from 3 to 16, are staying with family members.
“It’s always good to get those kind of tips when there are children in the house,” said Captain Robert Schneider of the Preble County Sheriff’s Office. “We want to take care of all of them where there were children in the house or not children in the house. We don’t want any meth labs in the county.”
