According to troopers, of the 507 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, six were diverted and tested for alcohol. One driver was arrested for OVI. Another driver was cited for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The other four drivers were found not to be impaired and were released.
Officials also conducted a nearby saturation patrol. Three were arrested for OVI, two were issued violations for safety belts, two were cited for traffic violations, and one person was cited for drug possession. Twenty-nine traffic warnings were issued for traffic infractions.
“At the end of the evening, our ultimate goal is just to educate motorists to do the right thing and make other arrangements if they are going to consume alcohol”, stated Lieutenant Joseph Gebhart. “There is no place for impaired driving on our roadways and the public supports the efforts of these men and women out here tonight making their community safer.”
