NEW CARLISLE, Ohio (WDTN) – A motorcyclist has died after he was struck by a pickup truck in front of Scarff’s Nursery around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to our partners at the New Carlisle News.

A black Ford F-150, driven by 19-year-old Nathan Burkholder, was traveling north on SR 235. Burkholder was turning left into Scarff’s Nursey when he collided with a motorcycle heading south, said Lt. Brian Aller from the Ohio State Patrol.

Burkholder “hesitated, then turned into Scarff’s” Lt. Aller said to the New Carlisle News. The motorcyclist “laid the bike down and struck the right rear wheel and fender of the F-150.”

Aller says that 36-year-old Nicholas Martin died at the scene of the accident. The crash is still under investigation but Aller says that “impairment” does not seem to be an issue in this case, according to the New Carlisle News.

State Route 235 was shut down in both directions until shortly after 2 p.m.
