MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – Three women have been arrested after two children were found seriously hurt at a motel in Middletown on Wednesday night.
Middletown Police say they were called to the Parkway Inn on N. Verity Parkway around 8:30 p.m. with reports of a dead child.
A woman in the hotel room called 911 and told dispatchers they were camping in the woods and the boy left the tent. She also claimed he had been attacked by some other children.
When police arrived, they found a 5-year-old with life-threatening injuries. Officers on the scene administered first aid until Middletown paramedics arrived.
The 5-year-old was taken to Atrium Medical Center and later transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati due to the severity of the injuries.
A further investigation found a 6-year-old boy, who is the brother of the 5-year-old, with serious injuries being hidden under a blanket.
The 6-year-old was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Liberty Township for treatment.
Police arrested 26-year-old Theresa Hawkins-Stephens, the mother of the two children. They also arrested 29-year-old Rachael Bostian and 56-year-old Ramona Bostian.
All three woman face two counts of felony child endangering and two counts of felonious assault.
All of the suspects were staying together at the Parkway Inn, room 130.
The individuals are originally from Licking County and had recently moved to Franklin.
The three suspects were booked into the Middletown City Jail. They’ll make their first appearance in court at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
