2 guns found in car after Dayton traffic stop, woman arrested

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Two handguns are found in a vehicle after Dayton Police Officers initiate a traffic stop Monday night.

The traffic stop happened just before 10 p.m. in the area of North Findlay and East First Streets after the driver of the vehicle failed to use a turn signal.

Two women were in the car, one driving and one was in the passengers seat.

After running their names, officers issued the driver a citation for driving under suspension. The passenger had an active warrant out for her arrest for a robbery in Montgomery County.

Before placing the passenger in the back seat of the police cruiser, they searched her pockets and located a .45 caliber handgun and bullets in her front pants pocket.

When officers searched the car, they found a baggie of marijuana and a second, loaded gun under the passenger’s seat.

Both women denied knowing anything about the gun in the car, and the passenger of the vehicle said the .45 caliber handgun did not belong to her and that she was supposed to bring it to a friend on Tuesday.

The passenger of the vehicle was taken into the Montgomery County Jail and is awaiting formal charges.
