SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) - The local nonprofit, Think Tank, held a unique event at the Shawnee Place Apartments in downtown Springfield Friday. The fundraiser allowed donors the to rappel down the side of an 11 story building.
Organizers say their mission is to fight social problems and poverty.
"Poverty is running rampant though this country, now more and more are falling below the line and we believe that once we start to like each other and really come together, we have more resources in our community to tackle poverty," said Karin Vanzant, Executive Director.
2 NEWS wanted to know just how bad the problem was in Clark County.
Vanzant said according to the US census, 19.5 percent of Clark County is in poverty, and 19.7 are on food stamps.
She said their goal was to raise $50,000. So far, she said they've raised more than $31,000 and will continue to collect money 30 days following Friday's event.
