Weather Underground Forecast for Tuesday, October 15, 2013.
A cold front is expected to move out of the Great Basin and into the Midwest on Tuesday, while a ridge of high pressure will build along the West Coast.
The Southwest can expect much warmer conditions on Tuesday due to high pressure off of the California coast. Temperatures will be around 90 degrees in the southern California and Arizona deserts during the afternoon. The Pacific Northwest should stay relatively dry throughout the day before spotty showers move into the region in the evening. Light snow showers may occur in the northern Cascades as well.
Light to moderate snow will fall in the central Rockies on Tuesday due to lingering moisture behind a cold frontal boundary. These snow showers should taper off in the afternoon as the front moves further east. Meanwhile, rain will move across the Mississippi Valley and upper Midwest, as well as parts of the Southeast due to an extensive cold frontal boundary. Thunderstorms will be possible in Texas as a warm, moist air mass interacts with the cold front. The Ohio Valley can also expect wet weather during the day. The northern East Coast will avoid precipitation on Monday, although cooler temperatures will accompany the cold front over the region. The southern half of the East Coast may experience showers and thunderstorms throughout the day due to a low pressure system lingering off of the coast of Florida.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday have ranged from a morning low of 17 degrees at Truckee-Tahoe, Calif. to a high of 89 degrees at Weslaco, Texas
