DENVER (AP) — Peyton Manning threw a short touchdown pass to a wide-open Eric Decker, Matt Prater hit a 53-yard field goal and the Denver Broncos led the Oakland Raiders 10-0 after the first quarter on Monday night.
Manning now has 10 TD passes and no interceptions this season.
Denver's defense stopped the Raiders on their opening possession and Manning quickly went to work. He completed five passes on his first drive, including a 17-yard strike to Decker that converted a third down and another 22-yarder to Demaryius Thomas that got the ball close to the goal line. Manning then hit Decker in the back of the end zone for a 2-yard TD.
Manning was 10 of 12 for 93 yards and a score in the opening quarter. He wasn't sacked, either, which was an issue entering the game as Manning becomes accustomed to a new left tackle.
Chris Clark steps in to protect Manning's blindside with Ryan Clady sidelined for the season with a left foot injury. Clark did have a holding call late in the first.
Decker had four receptions for 42 yards.
Terrelle Pryor couldn't get the Raiders going early as the offense went three-and-out on three straight possessions. The Raiders nearly converted a third and long, but a big pass play was negated by offensive pass interference on Mychal Rivera.
The Raiders had just 42 yards in the opening 15 minutes, half of it on Pryor's 23-yard keeper late in the quarter.
With Manning's TD and Prater's kick, the Broncos now have 100 points through two games and a quarter, which is more than any other team in the league.
Oakland's defense was missing linebacker Sio Moore, who sustained a concussion in an auto accident over the weekend.
The Broncos also were without linebacker Von Miller (suspension) and cornerback Champ Bailey, who returned to practice last week and warmed up before the game on his balky left foot, but was ruled out.
The Raiders-Broncos game marks a record 17th Monday night meeting between the longtime rivals. It also extends the Broncos' run to 22 consecutive seasons playing on MNF (1992-2013), the longest current streak of any NFL team.
