DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Dayton police are investigating a violent kidnapping attempt.
Officers received a call around 1:00 pm from the 1600 hundred block of Linnbrook Drive.
They say a friend of the victim stepped outside his to find him being held at gunpoint by three suspects. One suspect was beating the victim with a crowbar.
The friend says he saw the suspects drive off with the victim, who somehow escaped along Queens Avenue a short time later.
Police say the victim made his way to a nearby house for help. The neighbor drove him to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of head injuries. His condition is not known.
Police say the suspects are driving a gray car, possibly a Buick Century.

The Darke County Sheriff's Office was busy responding to several weather-related crashes Tuesday night. Deputies say many of the main roads are clear but most of the secondary streets are caked in ice and snow.
