WILMINGTON, Ohio (WDTN) - A Wilmington College cross country runner died Tuesday after collapsing at a track meet Saturday at Franklin College.
Wilmington Junior Jenna Parlette of Miamisburg was leading the race when she suffered what school officials call a “serious medical incident.”
She was rushed to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
A spokesperson for Wilmington College says Parlette never regained consciousness and family decided to remove her from life support just before 5:00 pm.
The college president released a statement Tuesday evening.
“Jenna was a wonderful student who left an indelible impression on many who she knew on campus,” said Wilmington College President Jim Reynolds. “We all grieve for a life lost so early.”
