COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - State officials have released the latest Ohio school and district ratings.
The Ohio Board of Education voted to release the information, in part because Election Day is approaching and many districts are pursuing levy and bond issues.
The reports are normally published in August and schools and districts have had access to preliminary student achievement data on standardized assessments throughout the summer.
One area district expressing satisfaction is Springfield. For the fourth year in a row, the district was 'above' in terms of composite value added, earning the state designation of 'Effective' or a grade of 'B'.
"We have accomplished so much in the past year, and again, I am grateful to everyone who has worked so hard to build our strong foundation," said Dr. David Estrop, Springfield City School District Superintendent. "I am confident that we will continue to exceed value added academic growth, and that as we continue to make this greater than expected growth, our students will meet and then exceed State and Federal expectations."
Results are still considered preliminary as Ohio Auditor Dave Yost investigates enrollment and attendance irregularities around the state.
2 NEWS reporter Alexa Ashwell has a copy of reports for all the area districts and will have results and reactions in a live report on 2 NEWS beginning at 5:00.
