DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Thirteen months ago, he was one of Dayton's Most Wantedcriminals. Now Raymond McDaniel is dead, the victim, police say, ofan attempted robbery Monday night.
Police say the crowd was in a frenzy Monday night, in theparking lot of Western Manor apartments on James H Mcgee Blvd.
Dayton Police Sgt. John Sullivan said, "There was a scene ofabout 150 people outside, very upset, and it was causing securityissues in our investigation."
With the 28 year old McDaniels dead, another investigation isover. McDaniel's trial was set to begin in September oncharges that he shot another man in June of 2006.
According to police reports, the two were arguing over a carblocking a driveway. The man McDaniel is accused ofshooting was paralyzed in the incident.
Police also tell 2 News that in February of 2005, a 14 year oldboy found a loaded gun that belonged to McDaniel. The teenmistakenly shot and killed his four year old brother. McDaniel wasnever charged in that case.
Monday night, according to witnesses, one or two men tried torob McDaniel. When he refused to hand over his property... theyopened fire. He died before police or medics could get to thescene.
